Established in 1934, and held in trust as the Commanda Social Club, the Community Centre still stands in its original location. Over time, many additions and improvements have been made. In 1987 the organization was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation; the Commanda Community Centre. To review the corporation’s Letters of Patent please click here.

In 2005, The Trillium Foundation and several local business generously made possible a number of renovations to the building. Including the replacement of old leaky windows, insulating the walls, and replacing the siding. The lighting inside the building was upgraded and new hardwood flooring was installed throughout the main event space.

The new building sign was a subsequent improvement, designed and created by Joe Nigrini, and installed by a group of volunteers.

In 2008, thanks to local fundraising efforts, the older portion of the roof was fully replaced.
