My husband’s parents frequently attended the CCC for various functions. I am excited to share my financial knowledge to help move the CCC forward in a positive and respectful way. Please consider me when you vote on October 26th.

- Joe Bell I am excited to run for a board position at the Commanda Community Centre. My wife and I are deeply rooted in this region, and we are passionate about giving back to our community. We live by a people-first philosophy and believe that everyone should feel welcome, supported, and treated with kindness. I am confident in my leadership abilities and committed to fostering growth and connection within the Centre. I look forward to all the good that can come from this opportunity.
- Renee White I love the Commanda Community Centre and have been closely involved for decades. Our funding comes from kind donations from members and the community, and everything we have here is for you. Being on the board means safeguarding all of this and serving all our members. Please consider voting for me for a position on the board.
- Amy Cormier We moved up here 11 years ago to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living, and it was the best decision we could have made. I gained employment as a PSW at Lady Isabelle, where the people treated me like one of their own — they were so welcoming and friendly. For the past six years, I have been working for Community Living Powassan as a support worker in a group home.
I attended yoga at the Centre (Commanda Hall) with Kathy Rowe and met some really great people. I quickly found the sense of belonging that I never really found down south. We enjoy coming to the monthly dances, and I recently volunteered for the brunch at the Centre as well as for the Commanda Summerfest, which gave me the opportunity to meet more people in our community. It was great to be part of something that brings the community together.
I have also had the privilege of helping to fix up the museum, knowing I had a hand in preserving the building. I truly feel we are blessed to have these two attractions in our small town.
As a PSW, people often tell me how easy I am to talk to and that I make them feel safe. They appreciate my honesty and take comfort in knowing that if I have a concern, I will bring it to them. I believe in having hard conversations and ensuring we all understand each other, allowing everyone to be heard.
I believe in finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. I believe in helping out when I can, and I live by my word. I make it a point to stop and ask if people are okay when they are on the side of the road, and I’ve driven stranded people home. I believe we have to be the change we want to see.
It would be an amazing opportunity to learn from my peers about everything that makes this great Centre run as it does.
